Changing seasons means more than swapping clothes, it’s a shift in energy. A chance to explore new styles, mix textures and maybe add that one perfect new piece to refresh your wardrobe. So Fall is officially here… the days are getting shorter, the air cooler and the colors start changing warmer red, yellow, brown and orange leaves slowly dancing to the ground by wind..

October, with its perfect balance between light and shadow, invites us to slow down and pay attention to the details: the scent of firewood and pumpkin spice in the air. And of course, fashion follows along, textures get cozier, colors turn richer: chestnut browns, pumpkin color in modern trench coats, soft beiges in warm outerwear.

Leather and suede accessories complete the look, giving that timeless flair we love. And let’s not forget… Halloween is right around the corner the most mysterious night of the year, with carved pumpkins, spooky stories and wild, imaginative costumes. It’s the perfect excuse to indulge in a few too many candies with a wink of irony, and plenty of scary style.

PALM BEACH...

Palm Beach in October tells a different story!

The sun is still shining, the breeze is soft, and the beach days aren’t over just yet. The heat is gentler, but the style is still effortlessly chic. It’s the perfect season to take things slow: a seaside brunch with no rush, a quiet boat ride with only the sound of waves, or an afternoon spent in the sun with a good book

Fashion here stays light but polished: Flowy dresses that transition beautifully from day to evening, lightweight jackets to layer with ease, and color palettes that echo the soft, golden light of the season think pastel colors, cream and sandy tones.

And when Halloween arrives, it’s not just about trick-or-treating. An event that shouldn’t miss is Candlelight: “Halloween Classics”… a magical candlelit concert featuring hauntingly beautiful classical music that gives October a truly unforgettable touch of drama. 

FIRENZE...

October ushers in cozy cinema festivals and exciting exhibition openings as we settle into the season. Tuscany really comes into its own during fall, with picturesque parks and strolls in the golden light made for magic memories.

Let’s start with what’s new in the art world! Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, one of the most celebrated painting cycles in the history of art, comes to life in a surprising new interpretation at the Casa Buonarroti exhibition, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel­­–A Multimedia Icon, scheduled until January 7.

Photographs by David Doubilet make their way to Villa Bardini from October 21 to April 12. The exhibition titled Oceani is in collaboration with National Geographic and reminds us of the beauty of the deep blue, with over 80 shots taken from seas all over.

The 15th edition of the Florence Biennale gathers over 550 artists and designers representing more than 85 countries from five continents. Together, they showcase over 1,500 works exploring the central theme: The Sublime Essence of Light and Darkness: Concepts of Dualism and Unity in Contemporary Art and Design. From October 18–26, Fortezza da Basso hosts the dynamic program of conferences, exhibitions, performances, screenings, and educational events.

This is the best season to enjoy film in Florence, as the 50 Days of Cinemacalendar covers cinematic excellence from all over the world. From a Women’s Cinema Festival to the FánHuā Chinese Film Festival and France Odeon, there are various programs that are well worth checking out, with many of the screenings taking place at the centrally based Cinema La Compagnia.

The Autunno Fiorentino calendar covers over 300 events going on in the city and surroundings, with shows, concerts, performances, workshops and courses for all ages. It’s a one-stop shop if you’re not sure what to do!

Tuscany’s version of a pumpkin patch can be found not too far away in Matassino. L’Orto delle Zucche sees field of pumpkins ready to be taken home, with activities like biscuit making and carving adding to the fun. Essentially created as a kind of fall theme park, there’s even a witch’s house and barn set up for your photos with friends and family. I’m intrigued to try Tuscany’s take on a pumpkin spice latte! 

There’s a new chill in the air that many welcome after the long, hot summer, and with the change in temperature comes a change in menus. Ribollita is a traditional Tuscan dish that’s both simple yet hearty. Seasonal ingredients and leftovers are the name of the game, meaning there’s no need to run out to the supermarket for anything unusual! It’s a vegetable and bean soup that’s thickened with stale bread, recooked the day after to give it a denser consistency. It’s served, of course, with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

Wait!! What’s autumn without chestnuts? Roasted in paper cones, with sticky fingers and smiling faces. It’s a season that celebrates life’s simple pleasures: like a golden hour walk along the Arno, a hot espresso, or a cozy evening in a local osteria filled with laughter, stories, and red wine.
