cheers from Florence! It is quite unusual for me to still be in Florence on the Epiphany.

Temperature is, as expected, cold!! Likely the sun is shining on my Bella Firenze and the Palm Beach sunshine in January is not yet missed.

Why am I still here? Well aside the pleasure to spend some extra time with my family, I am working on a new project that I will share with all of you in Palm Beach very soon. 

With the arrival of the new year, we want to start with hearts full of gratitude. Thank you all for being with us through an unforgettable year filled with style, passion, and authenticity.

PALM BEACH...

While Florence experiences January with the charm and character of a European winter, Palm Beach welcomes the new year in a relaxed setting where winter feels like a distant thought.

It’s the perfect time to recharge with fresh energy and perhaps even rethink our wardrobe, looking for new inspiration and exploring the more sophisticated side of our style. It’s a reminder that beauty is in detail, and that every corner of this city can surprise you!

In January, Palm Beach is all about comfort and class. A light jacket pairs perfectly with elegant accessories like leather bags and shoes that highlight the silhouette, creating a refined yet comfortable look ideal for the mild climate, a perfect balance between understated style and practicality.

In a place where art meets luxury, where theatre intertwines with the elegance of the venues, it’s impossible not to get swept up in the unique atmosphere Palm Beach offers.

The Kravis Center theater season is one of the city's cultural highlights, offering everything from Broadway productions to musicals, dramas, and comedies. This season is a must for theater lovers, offering a perfect mix of tradition and innovation. It’s not just something to watch, it’s an experience to live.

For lovers of classical music and opera, Palm Beach Opera is one of the city's most renowned cultural institutions, known for the quality of its productions and the thoughtful selection of titles. The season includes a combination of timeless classics and fresh interpretations of historic works. Every cultural event becomes an opportunity to discover and rediscover the essence of what makes this month so special!

FIRENZE...

A fresh year is upon us, and Florence is filled with cultural events to start 2026 in style!

Speaking of style, the fashion-forward fest Pitti Uomo returns to Fortezza da Basso from January 13-16, bringing over 700 brands that’ll showcase their menswear collections. It’s followed by the childrenswear edition, Pitti Bimbo, from January 21-22, and then it’s all things fabric-related with Pitti Filati from January 21-23 that coincides with the sustainability-centered Vintage Selection fair.

So, it’s certainly the month to be thinking about what’s in our wardrobes!

Going even more elaborate, the Carnevale Gala will be held in Palazzo Vecchio on January 31, an elegant affair that sees guests in fine dress and sophisticated costumes to mark the centuries-old tradition that’s synonymous with Venice and a pleasure to see in all its flair in Florence!

We’re certainly not short of traditional festivals this month, as we also see the Befana, a friendly witch who gifts treats to little ones (if they’re good, coal if they’re not!), make her arrival on January 6. Families (and not only!) will gather in piazza della Repubblica to see her descend from above before delivering sweets to all the little one’s present.

A ceremony commemorates the January 26, 429, transfer of San Zanobi’s remains to the San Lorenzo Basilica, celebrated annually with a historic procession and flag-bearers. Always an impressive display, it’s one of the Florentine spectacles that you must ensure to see!

There’s reason to return to Palazzo Pitti, also, as they’ve recently renewed the display of the royal furniture in the magnificent Niche Room. The pieces reveal how royal interior design evolved from the 17th to 19th centuries across the Medici, Lorraine and Savoy dynasties. The rich history always fascinates me, not to mention the awe-inspiring pieces!

In the latest news from the Renaissance city, the striking former Church of San Carlo de’ Barnabiti, located at via Sant’Agostino 23, has recently been fully restored and transformed into a social and cultural hub. The main hall is set to see displays dedicated to local craftsmanship, cultural events and talks, centered around building community.

After the ample range of sweet treats and savory deliciousness over the holidays, you might be looking at the cupboards a little perplexed. We’re all in need of something warm and comforting over these winter days, and there’s nothing quite like the classic Tuscan street food, lampredotto. Now, fair warning, it’s not for everyone, but Florentines certainly fancy it! Essentially, it consists of the abomasum, one of the cow’s stomachs, boiled in a vegetable broth and served inside a rosette-shaped sandwich. It can be seasoned simply with salt and pepper or drizzled with the classic green sauce (I recommend this!) made with parsley, garlic, capers and extra virgin olive oil. You can even add chili peppers for an extra kick.
