cheers from Palm Beach! Lately I feel like a pinball, moving back and forth with Florence. Likely I live and work in beautiful places and I cannot wait to share with you the multiple projects we are working on.

December is a month that, despite the crisp air wrapping around each day, brings an atmosphere filled with love and serenity. Cities light up with glowing decorations that cut through the early dusk, turning streets into luminous pathways that invite you to slow down, stroll, and enjoy the moment. Even the coldest nights feel softened by the magic of the season.

As the cold intensifies in Florence, hands reach for soft gloves, scarves grow cozier and more enveloping, and the desire to dress in warm, comforting pieces grows stronger. This is the month when style meets comfort, when fabrics become richer, silhouettes softer, and colors deeper. Chilly days inspire warm yet sophisticated looks outfits made to wrap you in elegance while enhancing your femininity.

PALM BEACH...

While winter takes over everywhere else, the air here stays warm and soft,

wrapped in gentle breezes drifting in from the ocean. The slightly cool mornings are perfect for a walk along the beach or through the elegant streets of Worth Avenue, beautifully decorated with refined holiday touches.

Golden lights melt into tropical colors, creating a unique contrast the festive season in a chic, relaxed, summery setting.

The season has officially begun: restaurant terraces come to life, historic hotels glow with understated yet striking decorations, and there’s a sense of sophisticated calm everywhere you go.

It’s a different kind of December less cold, more style. FIRENZE...

Florence gets festive with sparkling lights adorning its centuries-old streets and a wide array of celebratory cultural events keeping us merry and bright!

The whole season truly kicks off with the switching on of the Christmas tree lights in Piazza del Duomo on December 6. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of uniting around the giant tree as a historical parade brings us all to embrace the magical atmosphere the Renaissance city offers. That’s not the only thing sparkling this season! Florence Lights Up brings impressive immersive displays to a number of sites around the city, with well-known monuments getting a festive makeover from December 6 to January 6.

Keeping with all things luminary, Florence will see the Olympic flame make its glorious appearance in Piazza Santissima Annunziata on December 11! The historic occasion is part of a relay throughout Italy ahead of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Games, proving an unmissable opportunity to see the torchbearers carry the flame through the piazza in what’s bound to be a memorable moment.

Take your chance to enjoy your own moment of winter sports and grab your skates at the 320-meter-long Ice Rink just beside the Fortezza da Basso, with a 55-meter Ferris Wheel forming a highlight of the Florence On Ice Village that also sees stalls and street food if you don’t fancy the adrenaline of the heights or the rink!

In cultural news, the National Archaeological Museum of Florence has inaugurated a fully renovated space dedicated to the famed Chimera of Arezzo, the Etruscan bronze that once belonged to Cosimo I de’ Medici and has long been considered the museum’s crown jewel. With a theatrical setting and dramatic lighting, the Chimera has a whole new impact, allowing you to appreciate the bronze that portrays the mythological creature in the moment of defeat by the hero Bellerophon. Interestingly, the statue was long hidden, only unearthed on November 15, 1553, during fortification works ordered by Cosimo I near Porta San Lorentino in Arezzo. 

As you can imagine, there’s no shortage of traditional sweet treats to enjoy over the holidays, such as Panettone and Pandoro (there’s debate every year about which is better!). What Italians themselves eat on Christmas Day has often been a curiosity for those not from here! It’s often lasagna or tortellini in brodo(broth), followed by a meat or fish of choice, like capon, but however families choose to celebrate the day, you can be sure it’s done with the usual Italian flair!  

If you fancy adding your own bit of Italian fun to the season, you could play a traditional Tuscan game that’s played in Pienza, where a Panforte (Christmas cake-like dessert with fruit and nuts originating from Siena) is thrown onto tables, and the one that gets closest to the edge without falling wins! Make sure to wrap them up well so there’s no waste and you can still enjoy them afterward!
