April is the month when your wardrobe goes through an identity crisis: coats giving you sad looks and trench coats finally feeling like the stars of the show. Not sure what to wear?
Just go out and improvise, in style. Fashion follows the same rhythm: it lightens up and has fun, fresh fabrics move with us and colors look like they were taken from a blooming garden. These colors become the new stars, perfect for adding a bright twist even to the simplest outfits.
April is also the month when you wear “strategic” layers and still end up improvising: sun at 11 a.m., cool breeze at 6 p.m. The result? Dynamic outfits, last-minute changes and the freedom to mix without rules, looks that change during the day almost like the weather itself.
It’s the time when everything blooms, including style: pieces are mixed, combinations are playful, and fashion feels spontaneous again. After all, dressing for spring is a bit like choosing the first ice cream of the season: impossible not to smile.
PALM BEACH...
In Palm Beach, April is more than just spring—it feels like a runway under the sun. Every stroll along the waterfront becomes an opportunity to express your style with ease and confidence.
Among the season’s most anticipated events, the Palm Beach Polo Season in Wellington stands out as a true celebration of elegance and sport. From thrilling Sunday matches to brunches by the field and exclusive tailgates, it is where equestrian tradition meets the refined, sun-drenched lifestyle of Palm Beach. It is the perfect setting for light, polished looks, paired with accessories that bring a sense of effortless glamour.
As the sun sets, the mood shifts. Cross the bridges and where comes alive with Screen on the Green, a series of outdoor films set against the backdrop of the waterfront. Classic movies unfold on the Great Lawn, where light layers and relaxed, casual-chic ensembles create the perfect balance between comfort and style for an easy, elegant evening.
FIRENZE...
Spring in Florence is magical in its own right, but it may well be the city’s most spectacular season.
The scent of flowers and the sunlit streets bring me endless joy. Beyond the usually better weather, it is also one of the best times to visit galleries, as the new season ushers in an entirely fresh cultural calendar.
At Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Firenze Déco: Atmosfere degli anni Venti runs from April 2 to August 25, offering a deep dive into the artistic production of the 1920s and the vibrant world of decorative arts, fashion, graphics, and design. From there, the spotlight shifts to artisanal excellence at the MIDA International Crafts Fair, which celebrates top-caliber craftsmanship from April 25 to May 3. Alongside admiring the work of more than 500 artisans, visitors can also enjoy a guided tour of the Fortezza and explore its centuries of history, from its founding by the Medici family in the 16th century as a defensive garrison after the Siege of Florence to its role today.
Florence Cocktail Week returns from April 16 to 22 to celebrate its tenth anniversary, with a citywide calendar spanning bars and hotel venues. The program includes low- and no-alcohol options, as well as talks, masterclasses, brunches, and cultural experiences, creating a dynamic showcase across Florence.
There is also a wonderful opportunity to enjoy exquisite music in unexpected settings. The Orchestra della Toscana is hosting a series called Places of Listening, bringing varied repertoires to some of the city’s cenacles. These monastic spaces, originally created for conviviality, are adorned with pictorial cycles by artists such as Andrea del Castagno, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Andrea del Sarto.
One of Florence’s most anticipated traditions, the Scoppio del Carro (Explosion of the Cart), takes place in Piazza del Duomo on Easter Sunday. During the ceremony, the colombina, a mechanical dove, flies from a cart packed with fireworks into the Cathedral and then returns. If the flight is successful, it sets off a dramatic display in the piazza, delighting the crowds gathered there.
The tradition is said to date back to Pazzino de’ Pazzi who, after returning from the Crusades in 1099, brought back several flint stones from the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. These stones were later used in Florence to ignite the Easter Saturday celebrations. Over time, the ceremony moved to Easter Sunday, and Florentines created the grand ceremonial cart, the Brindellone, which is still escorted through the city by guards in historic costume.
Spring also brings endless possibilities to the table, as seasonal fruit and vegetables arrive in greater color and variety. As with so much of traditional Tuscan cooking, it does not take 50 ingredients to create something special.
A plate of fresh peas, simply well sourced and well dressed, can already feel divine. Piselli alla Fiorentina, Florentine-style peas, makes a wonderful side dish, often enriched with a little bacon or ham for added depth and protein. Garlic, olive oil, and salt are the classic essentials, while thin slices of meat infuse the dish with flavor. A touch of fresh parsley, and even a little sugar if you like, helps balance everything beautifully.
Toss it with pasta, and you have a quick, complete dish that is just as pleasing for a casual lunch as it is for a crowd.
