Summer is almost here!!...a new fashion collection just for you is available

Good morning everyone!!

I am still enjoying the gorgeous Palm Beach weather, yet it is time to move to the Hamptons. On May 8th I will have a full fashion show on Worth Avenue, after that another event at The Colony hotel and then finally I will be able to move North.

We will reopen the Hamptons Atelier and open the new Woodbury Atelier....wait a minute? When am I going to rest for the summer?!

Well and what about Florence? Florence has gone fully floral recently, and even more so this May. Many of the notable events and happenings seem to take a nature theme, speaking to everyone’s desire to immerse themselves as much as possible in all things natural.

Highly anticipated each year, the Iris Garden accessible at Viale Michelangelo 82 and Viale Giuseppe Poggi 3 rolls out its purple carpet once more, visitable from May 2-20. Other floral events include the Tuscan Horticultural Society’s much-loved Spring Plant and Flower market-exhibition at Giardino dell’Orticoltura, set to take place from May 28 to June 2.

It always proves to be an enticing and colorful display, and it’s a great excuse to head to this lovely garden just outside the centre for a "passeggiata" (stroll) with the nearby Giardino dell Parnassus always charming with its stunning view over the city.

One thing’s for sure, we’re all keen to spend as much time in nature as possible before the oppressive heat of the summer descends, making it the perfect month for ambling through Florence’s medieval streets and lounging in the beautiful green spaces in the city.

Sustainability is at the centre of new projects in Florence, with Piazzale Michelangelo getting an eco-friendly makeover in the form of 4,000 plants, including marigolds to petunias, that create the shape of a bee and spell out the words ‘Bee The Change’.

Financed by Aboca Healthcare, the gesture is extended to the sewing of borage seeds along the banks of the Arno and at some of the city’s roundabouts, to bring about more bees in a time when they are vulnerable as a result of climate change.

There’s much more going on than merely flowers, however! With cinemas, theaters and museums reopened on April 26 in yellow zones, there are signs of cautious steps towards reopening Italy in areas where numbers make such things possible – slowly but surely.

Perhaps mark "Festa della Mamma" (Mother’s Day) on May 9 by heading to a show she’s had her eye on.

Post-exercise and having caught up on some culture, whip up a typically Tuscan dish with seasonal vegetable such as Fava beans, Asparagus, Peas and Artichokes the main stars of this month’s menus.

As always, digital events sustain those who are dreaming of Italy from afar, and I’m particularly keen to tune into the Florence Korea Film Fest from May 21-28, with more than 100 screenings both in presence at Cinema La Compagnia, and streamable online.

Excitingly, the Uffizi Gallery (www.uffizi.it) has unveiled its first ever fully digital exhibition, where you can roam the display for as long as you like, from the comfort of your home. The exhibition is called ‘Empresses, matrons, freedwomen’, and looks at gender, power and emancipation in ancient Rome.

With all that creative and cultural sustenance, there’s plenty to look forward to this May.

With love, yours....
